Sheep Farming in Northern Areas

We are a small alpaca stud, located in the Yackamoorundie Ranges on "North Bungaree", approximately 30km North of Clare in South Australia. We open our alpaca stud to the public twice a year, this allows an opportunity for the general public to see an alpaca, learn about the benefits of alpacas, and purchase raw fleece suitable for hand spinning and felting. The alpacas, once castrated can be looked after for the following 3 days on the farm to ensure the healing process is going smoothly leaving the owner of the alpaca very little to worry about. A veterinarian performs the surgery to ensure the castrations are complete, giving a 100% guarantee that nothing is missed or left behind. We host alpaca castration days at the stud twice a year (or on demand if numbers permit). We offer a shearing service to alpaca owners throughout South Australia, which runs from August each year through until the end of April. We are members of the Australian Alpaca Association and Australasian Alpaca Breeders Association, and run a registered alpaca herd under the prefix "Jut Jura". Our alpacas are run to compliment the merino sheep enterprise of North Bungaree, general health checks, shearing, and the other 6 months of the year giving birth to their cria, the alpacas spend 6 months of the year protecting the merino lambs from the threat of foxes, and of course as pets. Comprising of 4500 acres (2000 acres arable, and 2500 acres of natural pasture) North Bungaree hosts some of the most picturesque views in the Yackamoorundie ranges. The property has a grand history within the Hawker family, with over 100 years in the same family. North Bungaree is a merino producing property, with over 4000 merino sheep. (more).
